Where Did Facebook Come From? Facebook is hands down the largest and most used social media platform on the web. Valued in 2018 at over 100 billion dollars, where did this spectacular piece of technology come from? In 2004 at Harvard University, a young Mark Zuckerberg created 'The Facebook' in just three weeks time, all by himself. Within the first few weeks, everyone at Harvard had a facebook account. The term 'Facebook  me' became a household slang at Harvard University. But it didn't stop there. After finding huge success at Harvard, Zuckerberg expanded his empire to colleges all across the nation. Roughly a year after the release of Facebook, almost every college student in the nation had an account. A little less than a year after that, Facebook was then available to anyone across the planet aged 13 years or older. One decade later,  Facebook was valued at 104 billion dollars, but that wasn't the end. Zuckerberg had to fight two separate lawsuits at the s...

Where did wireless phones come from? The first wireless phones were only in cars and trucks back in 1946. They were invented by Bell Laboratories. It was a complicated system, and throughout New York, only 12 calls could be made at a time, given the size of the city. Years later in 1962, what they called the "Madira Senator" was invented, which is what we would call a modern day boom box. Before Steve Jobs came out with the very first iPhone, all phones were connected to the wall with a plug, or had a giant antennae coming out of the top of the phone. In 2007, the first ever iPhone was released. Four years later, when Jobs passed away, the company was left to his two partners, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. Since then, phones have left arguably the biggest impact any piece of technology has left yet. Since his death, more than five new versions of the iPhone have been released, the most recent being the iPhone being the most recent. His company, 'Apple', has expande...

Can You Trust Your Own Country?  In December of last year, the Washington Post published top secret Pentagon documents that showed one of the many lies the U.S. tells their citizens. It opens up saying in basic terms that the war against Afghanistan was not theirs to win, and that they had no chance.  Sgt. First Class Javier Gutierrez, of San Antonio, Texas, and Sgt. First Class Rey Rodriguez of Las Cruces, New Mexico were both only 28 years old when they were killed in a joint attack against Afghanistan. Why send troops over to attack if the war's winner is already chosen? Why send troops over if Afghanistan is showing no hostility towards our country? Why wage war over Afghanistan and continuously lie to our people about it? Shouldn't we have the right to choose who we go to war with, or at all? Shouldn't we know the absolute truth about a war OUR country is fighting? They are not fighting for our freedom, they are fighting for the governments.  As stated i...

Can You Really Trust Google? 48 of the 50 states are launching an investigation on the worlds most powerful search engine, "Google". The investigation's goal is to try to prove whether Google broke the law while climbing to the top of the totem pole in the world's most successful and dominant companies. European regulators have fined Google for $5 billion for using 'illegal' tactics with their sub company, Android. On all Android phones, you are forced to download all google apps initially when your phone is booted up. This is an example of an unfair advantage. Again, European regulators fined Google $1.7 for having unfair exclusivity clauses, which again boosts their reach and power. They control the search engines, the ads, the apps, almost everything that is involved with the word 'internet'. Google has been accused of illegally advertising in. order to make their way to the top. Are they really cheating their way through, or are they simpl...

When Does Making a News Article Cross The Line of Ethics?         On January 26th, basketball hall of fame legend Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter accident along with his 13-year-old daughter while they were en route to a basketball game.  The highly popular celebrity news outlet known as TMZ did not the police notify the Bryant family before they posted the news. Given the amount of popularity and reach TMZ has with the public, the Bryant family discovered the news via their news article, rather than being notified by the police. Imagine finding out a family member of yours passed away from a news article. Was it more important to get the news out there without considering that the family may find out about the news before the police were able to notify them?  "It would be extremely disrespectful to understand that your loved one ... perished and you learn about it from TMZ," he said. "That is just wholly  inappropriate," said She...
